Bonnies take series from Dayton
March 23, 2003 DAYTON, OHIO - St. Bonaventure downed Dayton, 8-4, in today's third game of a three-game series at Stuart Field. The Bonnies and Flyers split yesterday's two games.
St. Bonaventure scored four runs in the top of the second to take a commanding 4-0 lead. The Bonnies knocked Dayton starter Cory Allen out in the second after he allowed four hits and all four runs. Senior third baseman Josh Paine, junior center fielder Matt Landahl, sophomore second baseman Craig King and senior first baseman Kevin Ryan each came in to score.
The Bonnies added two more runs in both the third and fourth innings. Ryan hit a two-run single in the top of the third and sophomore catcher Damian Blakeley and senior Greg Osganian were credited with an RBI apiece in the fourth.
Bona senior Kevin Niemczura improved to 1-1 on the season allowing four runs over seven innings while striking out two.
Ryan went 2-4 on the day with three RBIs and a runs scored.
St. Bonaventure is now 8-7 while Dayton is 6-12.
The Bonnies return to action Wednesday with a double header at Canisius. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m. start.
