ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - After leading the Bonnies to their fourth Atlantic 10 Conference series sweep of the season with two straight wins over Rhode Island this past weekend, freshman Kara Morenus has been named the A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday evening.

Morenus hit for a .417 clip at the plate last week as the first-year catcher manufactured all five of her hits of the seven-day span during the Rhode Island series. Her damage with the bat led to five runs batted in against the Rams thanks to back-to-back multiple RBI contests with two and three RBI on consecutive days, respectively. She also added a trio of doubles against Rhode Island to move her into a tie for the club lead with nine two baggers.

In just her first season with the Brown and White, the Horseheads, N.Y. native leads the club with 22 runs batted in and six multiple RBI contests. She has performed at her best against the top competition as she owns a .333 batting average in A-10 action, while accumulating 18 of her 29 hits and 12 of her 22 RBI in conference contests.

Morenus shared the weekly award with Saint Louis pitcher Erin Kelly.

The Bonnies return to action on Thursday, May 8 at the Atlantic 10 Championship in Charlotte, N.C. St. Bonaventure earned the tournament's second seed and will receive a first round bye before taking on the winner of the #3 Charlotte/#6 Saint Louis game at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
