MONROEVILLE, Pa. - The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team snapped a 13-match losing streak with a 4-3 victory over #13 Saint Joseph's in this morning's Atlantic 10 Championship consolation bracket, before falling to ninth-seeded Fordham, 4-2, to finish the 2007-08 campaign in a tie for 11th place at the Club 4 Life tennis complex.

The Brown and White opened the day by capturing the doubles point from the Hawks thanks to wins in all three doubles sets. Senior Anna Perevenzetseva and junior Yolande Callaghan sparked the doubles domination with an 8-4 opening win, while senior Ana Delgado and sophomore Vanessa Rumpel followed with an identical 8-4 triumph of their own. The third doubles set did not finish due to the Bonnies already owning enough victories for the result.

Both clubs tallied three points in singles action, making the Bona doubles point crucial in the club's positive outcome. Freshman Maria Barousse recorded a 6-1, 7-5 win over Gina DiGiacomo in third singles action, while Delgado posted her second win of the morning with a 6-3, 6-1 straight set triumph over Maggie Mullaney. The Brown and White also received a point from senior Anna Martorell's 7-5, 6-2 win over Krysta Contino.

Following St. Bonaventure's first win since a 4-3 victory over Mercyhurst on October 14, the Bonnies dropped a 4-2 decision to #9 Fordham in its afternoon contest.

The Brown and White gained early momentum by picking up the doubles points after wins from their second and third doubles tandems. However, the Rams notched wins in five out of six singles matches to clinch the 4-2 result. Martorell accounted for the only Bonnies' singles victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brittany Russell in sixth singles.
